Human iPSC Culture and Expansion

FGF2 and TGF-β signaling are established components of defined human pluripotent stem cell culture strategies. Published systems also incorporate insulin and transferrin as medium components and use defined attachment substrates such as vitronectin or laminin E8 fragments.

Explore our growth factors, medium supplements, and adhesion proteins when selecting components for iPSC culture development. Match the protein construct and formulation to the requirements of your chosen medium and substrate system.

Organoid Culture and Expansion

Organoid media recreate selected signals from the tissue’s stem cell environment. EGF, R-Spondin-1, and Noggin are established components of intestinal organoid culture methods; Wnt-3a is included in selected protocols according to tissue source and culture conditions.

Our collection includes these signaling proteins for researchers developing or adapting organoid media. Factor combinations should be selected for the specific tissue, species, and stage of culture.

Directed Differentiation and Organoid Development

Protein requirements change as cells move from pluripotency toward a defined lineage. Published human intestinal differentiation methods, for example, use Activin A during definitive endoderm induction, followed by FGF4 and Wnt-3a during intestinal specification.

Explore these factors as components of stage-specific differentiation workflows. Protein identity, treatment timing, and compatibility with the complete protocol should guide selection.

3D Culture and Model Development

Three-dimensional models require signals appropriate to their cell composition and biological purpose. Selected growth factors can be evaluated for proliferation, differentiation, or pathway responses in organoids and other 3D systems.

Our collection offers candidates for comparing culture conditions and investigating signaling responses. Requirements vary between models—even between organoids derived from the same tissue—so each factor should be evaluated in the intended system.

Frequently asked questions about cell culture proteins

What are cell culture proteins and what are they used for?

Cell culture proteins are recombinant cytokines, growth factors and signalling proteins added to culture medium to control how cells grow, survive, differentiate or stay in a defined state. This collection covers the proteins most often used in cell expansion, differentiation and functional assays, including interleukins, growth factors, Wnt and TGF-beta family proteins, and matrix proteins. All products are for research use only.

How do I choose between carrier-free and carrier-containing cytokines?

Carrier-free proteins contain no added carrier protein such as BSA and are the right choice for serum-free, defined or xeno-free culture, mass spectrometry and any application where added protein would interfere. Carrier-containing formulations add a stabiliser that improves shelf life and reduces loss at very low working concentrations. Each product page states the formulation; if you need a specific format, contact us before ordering.

Are these proteins suitable for stem cell, primary cell and immune cell culture?

Yes. The proteins in this collection are produced for cell-based work and are tested for bioactivity in a relevant cell assay where applicable. Check the product page for the expression host, bioactivity data and endotoxin level to confirm fit for your cell type and protocol. For sensitive systems such as stem cells and primary cells, choose carrier-free, low-endotoxin lots.

What quality data is provided with each protein?

Every product page lists the expression system, tag, purity (typically determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC), endotoxin level (measured by LAL assay), formulation, activity data where available and storage conditions. Lot-specific certificates of analysis are available on request from inquiry@betalifesci.com.

How should I reconstitute and store lyophilized proteins?

Briefly centrifuge the vial, then reconstitute in sterile water or the buffer named on the product page to the recommended concentration, adding liquid gently down the side of the vial rather than vortexing. Store lyophilized protein at -20 °C or below. After reconstitution, add a carrier protein if your application allows, divide into single-use aliquots and freeze at -20 °C to -80 °C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Can I order bulk quantities or custom production?

Yes. Most proteins are available in multiple sizes, and we offer bulk quantities and custom recombinant protein production, including specific expression hosts, tags and formulations. Email inquiry@betalifesci.com with the target, amount and intended application for a quote.

How fast do in-stock products ship?

In-stock items usually ship within 1 to 3 business days from our facility in Paoli, Pennsylvania, USA, with worldwide delivery available. Lead times for custom or made-to-order proteins are confirmed with your quote.
