Recombinant Human Serum Albumin/HSA Protein, Active, Low Endotoxin
Beta LifeScience
SKU/CAT #: BEP-0025UL
Carrier effect of rHSA is observed in the cell proliferation in TF-1 human cells treated with Recombinant Human IL-3 in the presence of 25 µg/mL rHSA. The carrier effect due to rHSA does not alter the ED50 in this assay

| Target Function | Human serum albumin (HSA) is a ~66.5 kDa, non-glycosylated plasma protein that contributes critically to physicochemical homeostasis in biochemical and cell culture systems through regulation of osmotic pressure and pH buffering capacity. HSA functions as a high-capacity carrier protein with multiple ligand-binding domains, enabling reversible binding and transport of a wide range of hydrophobic and amphipathic molecules, including long-chain fatty acids, steroid and thyroid hormones, bilirubin, and divalent metal ions. In addition to its transport functions, HSA exhibits protein-stabilizing activity by limiting denaturation, aggregation, and proteolytic degradation of labile proteins and enzymes. Owing to these combined buffering, carrier, and protective properties, recombinant HSA effectively recapitulates many of the essential biological functions of serum when used in chemically defined cell culture media. |
