| Background | TET3 or Tet methylcytosine deoxygenase 3 is a methylcytosine dioxygenase that catalyzes the conversion of methylcytosine to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine. TET3 which is a member of the ten-eleven translocation (TET) gene family is involved in myelopoiesis, and defects in TET3 have been associated with several myeloproliferative disorders. TET plays an important role in embryonic stem cell maintenance and inner cell mass cell specification (1). TET3 play an important role in the DNA methylation process (2). |
