Synonym | G13; G alpha-14 |
Background | G-alpha 13 (GNA13) is a guanine nucleotide-binding protein of the G12 class of G-alpha proteins. It activates Rho and regulates cytoplasmic as well as nuclear signaling events such as activation of the Jun N-terminal kinase signaling module, Na+/H+ exchangers, focal adhesion assemblies, and transcriptional activation of specific primary response genes. Like GNA12, GNA13 proteins are found up-regulated in several human cancers, and the GNA12/GNA13 signaling plays an important role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. |
