Product Overview
Description | Recombinant Human TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 6 is produced by our Mammalian expression system and the target gene encoding Gln26-Asn173 is expressed with a 6His tag at the C-terminus. |
Accession | P25445 |
Synonym | Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 6; Apo-1 antigen; Apoptosis-mediating surface antigen FAS; FASLG receptor; APT1; FAS1; TNFRSF6 and FAS |
Gene Background | FAS is a receptor and contains three TNFR-Cys repeats and one death domain. It has been shown that FAS is involved in the physiological regulation of programmed cell death, and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various malignancies and diseases of the immune system. FADD (adapter molecule) recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor, the resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases mediating apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis may play a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. |
Molecular Mass | 17.7 KDa |
Apmol Mass | 22-35 KDa, reducing conditions |
Formulation | Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20mM PB, 150mM NaCl, pH 7.4. |
Endotoxin | Less than 0.1 ng/µg (1 EU/µg) as determined by LAL test. |
Purity | Greater than 95% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE. (QC verified) |
Biological Activity | Not tested |
Reconstitution | Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100μg/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in distilled water. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. |
Storage | Lyophilized protein should be stored at ≤ -20°C, stable for one year after receipt. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 2-8°C for 2-7 days. Aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable at ≤ -20°C for 3 months. |
Shipping | The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature listed below. |

Target Details
Target Function | Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. The secreted isoforms 2 to 6 block apoptosis (in vitro). |
