Background

R-Spondin1 (RSPO1) is an important protein that belongs to the R-Spondin family and regulates a variety of biological processes. Its name reflects its position in the R-spondin family, while the number 1 refers to its specific member of that family.

One of the most prominent functions of RSPO1 is its regulatory role in the Wnt signaling pathway. RSPO1 activates the Wnt signaling pathway by binding to LGR4/5/6 receptors in the Wnt signaling pathway, thereby affecting cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. This is critical for physiological processes such as embryonic development, stem cell maintenance, and tissue regeneration and repair.

During embryonic development, RSPO1 plays important roles in multiple organ systems, including the reproductive system, nervous system, and intestine. In adult organisms, RSPO1 still plays a key role in tissue maintenance and repair, especially
in intestinal mucosal regeneration and the regulation of stem cells.
