Product Overview
| Description | Native Bovine Cathepsin D is a classic aspartic protease found in the lysosomes of bovine cells. It is a major, ubiquitously expressed endoprotease that plays a fundamental role in intracellular protein catabolism. In essence, Native Bovine Cathepsin D is the principal aspartic protease of the lysosome. It acts as the "stomach of the cell," performing bulk protein digestion in the acidic lysosomal compartment. Its strong dependence on acidic pH for activity is a critical regulatory feature that prevents cellular damage. |
