Background
Interleukin-2 (IL-2), a cytokine, plays a vital role in the immune system. It is primarily produced by activated helper T cells and cytotoxic T cells but can also be found in other immune cells. IL-2 binds to the IL-2 receptor on the surface of T cells, triggering complex signaling pathways that promote the growth, proliferation, and differentiation of T cells, thereby strengthening the immune response.
