Synonym | CXCL17, SCYB17, VCC-1, DMC |
Background | Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 17 (CXCL17) is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family that has been identified in humans and mice. CXCL17 attracts dendritic cells and monocytes and is regulated in tumors. It is also known as VEGF co-regulated chemokine 1 (VCC-1) and dendritic cell- and monocyte-attracting chemokine-like protein (DMC).This chemokine is constitutively expressed in the lung. The gene for human CXCL17 is located on chromosome 19. CXCL17 is an orphan chemokine with no known receptor[3]. |
Description | A DNA sequence encoding the human CXCL17 (Leu24-Leu119) was expressed with a His tag at the C-terminus. |
Source | Yeast |
Predicted N Terminal | Leu 24 |
AA Sequence | Leu24-Leu119 |
Molecular Weight | The recombinant human CXCL17 consists of 106 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 12.7 kDa. |

Usage | For Research Use Only |
Storage | Store the protein under sterile conditions at -20°C to -80°C. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
Target Details
Target Function | Chemokine that acts as chemoattractant for monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. Plays a role in angiogenesis and possibly in the development of tumors. Acts as an anti-inflammatory in the stomach. May play a role in the innate defense against infections. Activates the C-X-C chemokine receptor GPR35 to induce a rapid and transient rise in the level of intracellular calcium ions.; seems exhibit much higher chemoattractant potency on monocytes and macrophages than 6-Cys CXCL17. |
Subcellular Location | Secreted. |
Protein Families | Intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family |
Database References | |
Tissue Specificity | Detected in trachea, stomach, lung and skeletal muscle. Detected in intestine and in normal and asthmatic lung (at protein level). Breast tumors showed 3- to 24-fold up-regulation. |
