Host Species | Human |
Accession | Q969G6 |
Synonym | RIFK |
Background | Flavokinase is a member of the transferases family, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferases) with an alcohol group as acceptor. Flavokinase is an essential enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of riboflavin (vitamin B2) to form flavin mononucleotide (FMN), an obligatory step in vitamin B2 utilization and flavin cofactor synthesis. It has been proposed that TNF, through the activation of the flavokinase gene, enhances the incorporation of FAD in NADPH oxidase enzymes, which is a critical step for the assembly and activation of NADPH oxidase. |
Description | A DNA sequence encoding the mature form of human RFK (Q969G6) (Met1-His155) was expressed with a His tag at the N-terminus. |
Source | E.coli |
Predicted N Terminal | His |
AA Sequence | Met1-His155 |
Molecular Weight | The recombinant human RFK consists of 170 a.a. and predicts a molecular mass of 19.5 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 20 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. |
