Background The glutamate receptor 6 (GluR6 or GRIK2, one of the kainate receptors) gene resides in a genetic linkage region (6q21) associated with bipolar disorder (BPD). The gene coding for glutamate receptor 6 (GluR6 or GRIK2) has been suggested as a candidate gene for autism based on its localization in the autism specific region on chromosome 6q21 and the involvement of receptor protein in cognitive functions like learning and memory. GRIK2 has a role in the maintenance of urothelial CSCs/CICs and that GRIK2 and ALDH1 can be prognosis prediction markers for urinary tract carcinomas.
Description A DNA sequence encoding the human GRIK2 (NP_001159719.1) (Met1-Pro561) was expressed with the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.
